I am a twenty-four-year-old male. I have Bachelors of Arts in English and philosophy as well as a minor in French. My thesis for my Bachelor of Arts in English focused on characters' self-given sex and gender identities in the first Harry Potter novel, The Sorcerer's Stone, while my thesis for my Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy focused on the knowledge power of emotions. Both were met initially with resistance from their respective departments, but both were received quite well in the end, thanks in no small part to fantastic cooperation from my mentors.
I am currently seeking employment, preferably in education, writing, or professional video gaming--a person can dream!
I have been published three times. The first was a poem I wrote in elementary school that was published in an anthology of works by elementary school students. The second was an essay that I wrote in 2011 on a local community that was still rebuilding following the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The third was a short story in 2016 that was published in my college's annual creative writing anthology. Each of these works have been stepping stones in my journey as a writer, although none of these works is available on FPN.
My preferred umbrella genre of literature is speculative fiction, including works of fantasy, science fiction, and horror, although I have been exposed to a variety of genres and am still interested in broadening my literary library. Many of my proudest academic essays have been on novels and short stories that do not belong to the speculative fiction umbrella, although I have still written academic essays on speculative fiction, primarily fantasy. Young adult is my favorite focused age group, but I am open to literature aimed at any age group.
