to joy on the edge of a cyclops and spinet
to rage on the edge of a cylindrical minute...

- The Velvet Underground

Mina Lowell, otherwise known as Cylindrical Minute. 19 years of age. Presently a college senior studying chemistry. An inelegant poet who occasionally dabbles in prose.

I like caffeine and conversation more than I like sleeping. A lot more.

Get at me.

Current Works in Progress (aside from my sporadically posted poetry):

Infinity - “The ‘best year of our lives’ came up tasting of college apps, coffee, Parliaments, projects, scandal, Svedka, and sleep-deprivation.” Six high school seniors versus the final hundred and eighty days.

Broken Circles - the summary's down there. Fair warning, it's probably not going to get updated until like 2014.

nothing's getting updated until further notice because college is hard and life is shit.

This is Me When I'm Formal by LyricalBelletrist
I grew up with my dad declaiming Spanish classics and a slim volume of all Shakespeare's sonnets. For all that, I have no idea what it means to write within a form. These are my attempts; they're not too bad. I hope.

Instead of Doing Work reviews
These poems all have the common denominator of school. Maybe they were written in school, or about the education system, or about someone I go to school with, but they're all alike in that respect.

Broken Circles reviews
The year is 2314. Education is segregated, fully given along with other privileges to those deemed gifted enough to use it. But what happens when even the gifted disagree with this? And what of the draft sucking up the brightest minds into a mindless war?

Final Thoughts
I staggered through Chemistry regents, dreaming of the end, dreading the Math B, while memories of this year swirled around me like blankets of February snow, cold and enveloping, as I wondered if this was where tenth grade finally ended.
