Back to work on Blindsided after some truly heinous writer's block. In an attempt to re-inspire myself over the progress-less week from hell, I threw together a livejournal as a sort of supplement to my work here. Inspiration pictures, random drabbles, excerpts of content too explicit for FB.

Blindsided is going live. I was at a loss for what to write for a couple weeks and then I was watching Westworld of all things and suddenly I realized I had an idea. More specifically, a new version of an old idea. My writer brain is just as rusty as I thought and grinding out two chapters has been agonizing. But I did it. And I'm more or less proud of it. And I'm going to keep going.

It's been a LONG time, FictionPress. Since my last update, eight years and ten days and holy shit, man. When I logged back in, I was just expecting to sort of chuckle at my Very Young Self and keep on moving. I was not expecting to be struck with inspiration. I was not expecting to want to write again after so much time. But here I am. Maybe it's because I have some free time for the first time in years. Maybe it's because I've been reading more recently. Maybe it's because I really do have a writer inside me that's just been biding her time and waiting for her chance to come out again. In any case, here we are. I'm back. I have the time. I have some ideas. Time to do the thing.

Why "AwkwardSumbarine"?: Know the "awkward turtle" hand gesture? Well, it's kind of like that. Only a submarine. The "Awkward Submarine" came from a very insane car ride with my best friend. Needless to say, I got pretty attached to it. Also I have a strange and mysterious love of submarine movies.

Blindsided (in progress)

A re-imagining of the characters and themes central to Bang Bang. Ally, Rylie, and Mickey are all here, joined by new faces and some old ones too. It's a romance through and through, full of humor and heartbreak and hope.

This idea started life as a long-form roleplay set in An Established Science Fiction Universe That Shall Not Be Named. It survives as an original character, a vague idea of a plot, and an opportunity to stretch some muscles.

Stumble (OLD - published, complete)

This actually started out as a sort of dare to myself; I wanted to see if I could write sexy. The identities and relationship of the characters (a Las Vegas PD cop and a professional dominatrix/yoga teacher) came out of my "Hey, I should write a cheesy romance novel to try and pay for college!" Phase...which I have not totally moved beyond. The piece itself is a sort of experiment designed to stretch my limits as a writer. When I wrote it I meant it as an excerpt of a novel-length work. It may or may not be incorporated into something later. For now, I'm happy with the way it is.

Bang Bang (OLD - published, discontinued)

Alba's story as I imagine it is very close to my heart. There's a lot of me in it - my feelings, my pains, my personality, my experiences. And maybe that's why it's turning out so hard for me to write it in a way that I'm happy with. The original Bang Bang was a priceless exercise in writing emotionally, but it got turned around and confused and I realized I wasn't telling the story I really wanted to. I will definitely be getting back to the story of Ally and Rylie and Mickey and all someday. I know it intimately, and I want to share it. I'm just working on the how.

Probably shorter scenarios that toy with explicitness. Emphasis on enthusiastic consent!

Stupidly Angry by Ms ShiSha reviews
“You have two options now.” He said in a hoarse voice. “Either you are going to go home now and we forget that ever happened or” there his voice broke a little and his gaze darkened “…or you stay here, with me, and we finish." Right, like I could ever go.
