Hi...I haven't been on in awhile...so I guess my profile needed a facelift. Just changed a few things (okay, maybe a lot) and cut down my quote section to something a little more manageable (so I can look for more random quotes...and I'll have to do the whole thing over again...). Anyway...I'm a Sea Cadet (still a frickin' E-1 even though I should have been promoted after boot camp) and I'm in band, but I'm not considered a "true" band geek because I wasn't in marching band (not my fault) and I'm not in jazz band (I'm in a cooler jazz band somewhere else, they just don't know it). Okay...there's the basics, I guess. And if you haven't figured it out yet, I'm female...just kinda came up with the name on my own...

Favorite Quotes:

"You must know... surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I'd scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on."
-Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice

"If the people raise a great howl my barbarity and cruelty, I will answer that war is war and not popularity seeking!"
-General William T. Sherman

"We live in trenches out there. We fight. We try not to get killed, but sometimes we are. That's all."
-Paul Baumer from All Quiet on the Western Front

His voice very hoarse "Just get up off the ground, that's all I ask. Get up there with that lady that's up on top of this Capitol dome, that lady that stands for liberty. Take a look at this country through her eyes if you really want to see something. And you won't just see scenery; you'll see the whole parade of what Man's carved out for himself, after centuries of fighting. Fighting for something better than just jungle law, fighting so's he can stand on his own two feet, free and decent, like he was created, no matter what his race, color, or creed. That's what you'd see. There's no place out there for graft, or greed, or lies, or compromise with human liberties. And, uh, if that's what the grownups have done with this world that was given to them, then we'd better get those boys' camps started fast and see what the kids can do. And it's not too late, because this country is bigger than the Taylors, or you, or me, or anything else. Great principles don't get lost once they come to light. They're right here; you just have to see them again!"
-Jefferson Smith from Mr. Smith Goes to Washington

"Behind each of these books, there's a man. That's what interests me."
-Guy Montag from Fahrenheit 451 (film version)

"Everything we do is a choice. Oatmeal or cereal, highway or sidestreets, kiss her or keep her.We make choices, and we live with consequences. If someone gets hurt along the way, we ask for forgiveness, it's the best anyone can do."
-Ned from Pushing Daisies

"I used to admire your poetry...I shouldn't admire it now. I should find it absurdly personal. Don't you agree? Feelings, insights, affections... it's suddenly trivial now. You don't agree; you're wrong. The personal life is dead in Russia. History has killed it. I can see why you might hate me."
-Pasha from Dr. Zhivago

"Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?"
-James Bond from Casino Royale

"A lot of guys ignore the laugh, and that's about standards. I mean, if you're gonna get into the Evil League of Evil, you have to have a memorable laugh. What, do you think Bad Horse didn't work on his whinny? His terrible death-whinny?"
-Dr. Horrible from Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog
