Author has written 23 stories for Love, Life, and Biography.
I write not because I have bursts of inspiration or a sudden great plot, but rather because something clicks in my head and it all comes together. The emotion, the setting, usually some sort of music, or facial expression or comment, and I have to get it down. That, to me, is being a writer. Having something well up so strongly inside you, not even being sure where it comes from, but knowing there's only one way to get it out.
One can notice in my work a gradual progression, from what I was to where I have been and to where I am now. I've been writing for so long I must have ripped up thousands of poems. Sometimes they hit close to the truth. Sometimes I post them here. I'm getting closer and closer to where my poetry needs to be but I'm not quite there. Yet.
Read the poems. Read the stories. Figure out your own meaning and take it from there. I've met a devil of sorts and he calls himself an "actual, real writer" and I think I might have hated him. Take it a day at a time, leave each thing to its hour, and be ready for the moments when you have to take someone and hold them to your chest. When someone goes to kiss your brow hold their chin and get their lips. When someone says goodbye stop them and say you'll see them later. When someone asks if you love them, well. That's when you can pause. Hesitate. Mention that you're very fond of them.
Until I can distinguish between pre-marital garbage and love, anyway. Love needs to be reinvented.
