Gosh, it has been forever since I updated this account.
To my readers, I apologize for the exceptionally long disappearance. I promise that, within a year, I will have an update of some sort - either on the Dusk to Dawn Arc, or with some new story.
For those who have just rambled across this account, take a look at the stories I have written and feel free to comment. Constructive criticism is always welcome!
Biography: I won't go into too many specifics, but I grew up in the west. This place, this land, this state I live in is the only place I wish to live for the rest of my life. I spent half my life living in a very rural town - and loving every second of it - before my parents moved us to the Pacific Northwest. It has taken me nearly ten years to accept the loss of the life I loved, but I have finally realized that this move northward taught me things about myself and life that I might've never known had the move never occurred.
My current life is... challenging to say the least. I am attempting to get a business idea up off the ground, as well as doing a double major at a state university. I have a barnyard of animals that I love - a herd of goats I manage, a couple horses, two dogs, along with my handsome cat (he's the one sprawled in the picture). For those of you curious about the lengthy drought of me, just know that the last couple years - frankly most of the time after high school - have been an ordeal. We had several deaths in my family, lost several animals who were icons of my childhood, had drastic swings in health conditions (including myself). I've also been struggling with what I want to do for the rest of my life, as well as fighting to be the person I wish to be. There were a couple years where I believe that I lost myself; became lost in myself and saw a side of me I did not like.
Hobbies: I absolutely love reading. I don't think I could go a month without reading a story. Personally, I love stories that are fairly lifelike (other than the massive werewolf in the corner, don't mind him). This means adventure, character growth, personal challenges, and, above all, romance; all things I like to include in my stories. A brief list of books I love are:
Goose-Girl (by Shannon Hale), the Alanna Series plus any other books she has written (Tamora Pierce), The Hero and the Crown and The Blue Sword (both by Robin McKinley), the Green Rider series (by Kirsten Britain).
I also love listening to music - gotta get my study-jams on! I listen to almost anything under the sun, but you'll find mostly country, mixed with a little rock, alternative, jazz, and some classical in my MP3 player.
Rise Again, Book Three of Dusk to Dawn Arc, is currently under construction. I have been working on it, in between school and life, but I have rewritten it about five times so far. Unlike the earlier books, this one has to be the end, at least of the Mackenzie-Jarred story. This fact has been making it difficult to finish off the story in a way that the characters, as well as you readers, deserve. Top that with the fact that I have been having a hard time getting the motives, voices, and reactions right since this story is a bit further in the future and the main characters have all gone through hardships that have changed them. But, I promise that I am working on it and I really do hope to have it out before the end of the year. So, don't give up on me yet!
10/16/09: First Chapter revised and reposted for Wolf Moon. Remaining chapters to be done: 2-8.
11/24/09: Chapters 2 and 3 have been revised. I actually did them a while back but forgot to put a note up here.
Dusk to Dawn Story Arc
In the Silence of the Night (Book 1): Mackenzie was a normal teenage girl, at least she appeared normal to the outside world. However, she was hiding a deadly secret. One so powerful, men would kill and die for it. She had the perfect covers, no one would find out who she was, until that day...
Life, Love, and Everything in Between: A collection of short stories involving the characters of In the Silence of the Night before, during, and after the actual story.
Interlude: The Years after the ending of In the Silence of the Night.
Wolf Moon (Book 2): A new plot is afoot, one which would change the world drastically. Mackenzie knows that the only way to win is to save the Key to this mutation and that means calling on an old friend. The early chapters are currently undergoing revisions...
Rise Again (Book 3): Mackenzie had never been terribly normal, but now she was trying to step back and away from burden of her position as Alpha, trying to be a good mother for her father-less child. However, things never go according to plans and a new force is here to eradicate the werewolf population. And, this time, it's more personal than ever before. Under construction - update sometime soon...
Reunions: Set to Lady Antebellum's self titled CD. She had left that town ten years ago. Then, she stood beside a boy saying goodbye. Today, she stands beside a man awaiting her answer. But, will a twist of time and fate save her and show what love really is? It's not what you would expect.
Currently in the Works
Untitled: The Kingdom of Oranha has stood as a solitary safeguard against the warriors of the North. However, all of that changes when a deal is made between the Varakline of the Northerlands and the Kaysran, or King-killers, deadly assassins from the Borderlands. With the aid of a powerful Valkyrie healer, the Guardians of the Realm, and the elf-like Oihanae, one man with a hidden past and a dangerous secret must come to terms with both as he battles for the survival of the Kingdom.
The Rule of Three (Working Title, may change): There is a power, as old as time itself, that is referred to as the 'light' while those who possess it are called shifters. Hidden in its past, an ancient prophecy is written that states that a thief, a warrior, and a healer will work together to finish a war. Now, time is running out and the only two who know of a plot to end the world are two teenagers who are currently held by the very man who is leading the darkness. (Still working on the summary)
I'd Come For You: For generations, a silent war has been waged between man, angel, and demon. Now, a boy is having nightmares involving images of angels and the apocalypse. When he vanishes, the girl he left behind remembers the legends of her family. When all hell breaks loose, where will they stand? This story may never get finished. We'll see.
In the End: It's several hundred years after a nuclear war has drastically changed the Earth. Now, the lands are broken and deserted, the people forced to scavenge and fight to survive. Michael is somewhat of a vigilante. And, after he is caught and facing death, two strange twins rescue him. Who are they and why do they seem to know so much about him?
Untitled (in-progress): Why Davis sent him north, Ethan Harris will never understand. To his way of thinking, his boss was on something when he ordered him to the one-horse town to cover a rash of deaths that have plagued the town of Elkton, MT. What starts out as an investigation of wolf-related deaths, turns into something else, something far more insidious and murderous, when he delves deeper into the pasts of the town's residents, including one golden-eyed woman with a bad attitude and a secret as wide as the town's main street.
