The prompt was to write a story set in the year 2030 that included five facts from a 'what will the future be like?' presentation. For one thing, the U.S. doesn't exist anymore, most of the world is either controlled by either India or China... Written in the Clouds - Outcast by her family, Vani makes a life for herself in a convent in India. Disgustingly long ones A Puppet in the Hand - Judge's Pick (and runner up public pick) Most Inspirational Character (Tam) La Campanella Awards 2010. The story of a girl finding her path in an authoritarian state. She grew up in a psych ward with no memories (or so she thinks), so you discover her world as she does. Her passive existence inside the ward broken, she must come to grips with the relative merits of Freedom and Order, Right and Wrong, Obeying and Commanding, Power and Poverty, Past and Future. That makes it sound heavy, eh? Its not that heavy. :) Nochnayia Lubov - Winner of La Campanella's Tragedy and Historical Awards. First three chapters were an entry in the February Gossip forum's writing contest. The prompt was to write a tale of forbidden love. This one is set in a Siberian labour camp, where Katya enters into a relationship with an officer to secure medicine for her friend. A simple business transaction becomes complicated when feelings heat up. Has now turned into a bit of an epic, involving Tsarist vs Communist Russia in the late 1930's. Yes, historical revisionism at its best. well, who hasn't wanted to do away with Stalin? First Drawn - An early work, yet to be editted. Kattryn discovers her drawings can summon people's spirits. Which would be fine if she didn't have an arts degree to finish, a vampire set on (possibly) destroying her, a wolf following her around, and... yeah, it gets complicated. is actually six books back to back, if that makes it any easier to get your head around. Complete, and it's sequel Spirit Song is up too. |
