i, my name is Rayne, I'm 15, thoroughly enjoy writing, and live in Texas. I go to one of seven or eight early college schools in the nation, a science, math and engineering magnet, even though I'm much more inclined towards the arts and language. I plan on going to college at the Universidad de Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, for either Pre-Med or Humanities. Either way I'll end up working against the genocide in Darfur, as part of Doctors Without Borders or another group.
I like interesting colors, photography, paper CD cases, unusual and thought provoking books, arts festivals, and the YMCA's Youth in Government Program. I wear lots of indie clothes and drive a BMW. My taste in music constantly changes, but generally stays within the Indie Pop and Folk relm. Some people occasionally call me Razzle. I have four cats: Potter, Weasley, Granger and Mundae, ranging in age from 11 to almost 3. I also have flight of ideas, but am not schizophrenic or bipolar- well, not that I've noticed...
I started reading Harry Potter in first grade, when my Mom picked up Chamber of Secrets, and fell in love with it. J.K. Rowling was the one who first inspired me to start writing. My close friend, Steph, and I write fan fiction over on Fanfiction.net. Our pen name is IllegalLadles- check it. What Happens in Vegas is good for a laugh, double for Voldemort Pursues a Life in the Convent. Insider is my pet project.
My favorite movies are Love Actually, The Pianist, and Garden State. There are many others that I utterly adore, but those are the ones that (for Love Actually) I can watch on loop with my step-dad at Christmas and never get sick of, (for The Pianist) changed my view of the world and the power of the human will to survive, and (for Garden State) remind me how even the most ordinary things in the world can be twisted and seen as extraordinary, the future is never what you'd expect, and never to walk away.
Book-wise, Harry Potter changed my life, and even my appearance (for a year I wore square glasses and refused to let my hair down, because I wanted to be just like McGonagall. I've worn square frames ever since). It fueled my interest and eventual wide knowledge in history and Latin, and the mention of Grindelwald and 1945 in book 1 was what started my intense research in the area of WWII, my favorite historical time period. Other than the series, my favorites would have to be The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova, for how amazingly in-depth and accurate almost all of it is, minus the crappy ending, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, which shaped the entirety of my freshman year and taught me how to live and just be myself, but also to use sense when doing so (though part of that I had to learn on my own...)
I'm not very athletic, I adore volleyball but am no good so stick to going to the sand courts and having fun when up in TN. Running is fun, but I lack the motivation it takes to do it on my own. I did horseback riding for several years and was actually pretty good, but training was inconsistent and so I never showed. I ride English Hunter, but want to try Jumper. However, I love extracurriculars, and make it common practice to sign up for every club. My favorites have been Youth in Government, which is essential to a fulfilled high school career (just try it. You'll never want conferences to end), Art Club, of which I was president of Freshman year, and Student Council, which is frustrating and more often than not disappointing as Hell, but the most fun I've ever had.
So... That's about it. :)
