An experimental piece I did for my creative writing piece!

A one shot I wrote for an assignment on belonging. Two friends struggle with their relationship, neither wanting to admit their feelings towards the other.

After a few drinks and a strange encounter with an enemy, Skye and Dylan's night turns out how they always wanted it to in the worst possible way. Their experiences test the boundaries of their friendship, putting them under a strain neither expected. But will they both come out alive?

After meeting the boy of her dreams for real, Pepper realizes that he is nothing like she expected. A series of unexpected encounters seem to bring him closer to her, but is he genuine or does he have an ulterior motive that could devastate their already fragile relationship?

With her family gone, Pepper's looking forward to a night to herself. Until her brother's god-of-a-best-friend turns up in need of a place to stay. She can tell herself she doesn't like him all she wants, but can he change her mind before the night ends?

For Dylan and Skye, it was never as easy as simply falling in love.

When he inhales, he knows it's his last breath. And he knows exactly how he's going to use it.

Shit. I'm sorry,' he says, grinning as though he isn't really sorry at all, as though he actually quite enjoyed biting my lip. He probably did.

I shuddered underneath him. 'What's the matter' he asked cockily. 'You cold? Or is it just that my very presence completely unnerves you—to the point of uncontrollable shuddering?...Rated M for a reason...You've been warned.

‘Skye.’ I paused, and reached under the quilt, grabbing his hand, his icy fingers threading through mine. There were violent tremors rocking his body. ‘Are you alright?’ My voice cracked. I could feel the tears, burning behind my eyelids.

Just let me explain,' he said desperately. 'Oh, there's no need, I'm pretty sure what I saw was a sufficient enough representation of how you feel.' I could hear my voice shaking. 'Please,' he almost whispered.

He moves his arm towards me slowly, and gently pulls the elastic out of my straight hair, watching it fall around my face. He brushes my fringe aside. 'You're beautiful' he says, confidently.
