Author has written 12 stories for Song, and General.
My name is Rodney Carter, and I'm a poet from Massachusetts.
I was born in Boston, and have grown up as a student in Winchester, a Boston suburb. As I grew up, I noticed some things that I was told about society were false. Over the years I learned to never cease the usage of my critical mind when I hear anything that may not be true, or cannot be proven or explain. Some have called me a cynic or a skeptic, but I perceive this a realism.
I began writing poetry in the 8th grade, when I was assigned to write a four-line poem for homework. Naturally, I fell in love with poetry almost immediately, and I wrote my first poem called "Kind of Like Yesterday". That was my first real poem that was written for the "Punk" genre. The poem I wrote was about how many of us are so close to routine, and everyday is "Kind of Like Yesterday". I have since lost the manuscript for this poem, but I can remember some verses.
I may not be gifted with rhyme or rythym, but I have since tried to improve my poetry. I have since then, ventured further into the "Punk" and "Alternative" poetry genre. I am an advocate of literalism, not trying to hide what I say behind metaphors, or comparions. Most of what I write can be interpreted as written.
Most of my poems are meant to be sung, but because I can't provide the music, I hope my readers can guess how it goes. I hope for my readers my poems are a cause of pondering, and wonder about complacency, and conformity. Thank you for viewing.
