Author has written 212 stories for Romance, Humor, General, Historical, Sci-Fi, Young Adult, Fantasy, and Spiritual.
I was a shy, insecure, lonely kid growing up in an alcoholic family so romance wasn't something I experienced and the traumas from my youth haunt me to this day. Writing here is therapy for me.
I get most of my story ideas from real life incidents I have heard about or expeirenced myself. I keep an ear open listening for potential story ideas. Just as actors observe life, writers do too. Reading newspapers, magazines and social media can also trigger story ideas and of course stories on this site can help all of us come up with the ideas of our own.
I try to make my characters vulnerable and I like the idea of redemption, second chances, and love found.
A Disconnected Life: The Flight of Birdy Braft is by far the longest and I would like to think most developed story here, the first one I posted. It is my favorite. I'm also proud of How I Spent the Blizzard of '78 and Becoming Savinski among others
Sadly, many of my favorites don't get that much notice but a funny thing happened when I started posting what I call my guilty pleasures – over the top sexual romps with plenty of erotica and overt nudity (some my long time sexual fantasies) – the hits went through the roof. While I try to make the characters real and likeable in these stories, I’m a little surprised that it’s apparently the overt sex that is driving the hits for these guilty pleasures. I worry that young teenagers are reading this stuff (which might not be the most ethical thing for me to be doing (even if we all can relate to that stuff )) . Hint: They're rated M for a reason, readers!!!!!
Biggest Surprise: Peter and Sarah's Virgin Wedding Night is not one of my favorites - I wrote it mostly to counter some of the overt sexual stuff with a different viewpoint and it generated a couple of tough reviews - yet this story has more hits than any other story I've posted. Although I have mixed feelings about this piece, I'm glad I posted it based on the review Sharri offered. If I've helped one person, it's a good thing. I'm happy to reply to reviews - but the system does not allow us to respond to 'Guest' reviewers. I appreciate the reviews I get and I'm grateful to those kind readers who follow me.
(Fictional Blue County, Hillsboro, Greenville and some of the other locations used in most of the stories is based on the area where I grew up.)
