I have been writing poetry for a while. But have been forced to write in secret. Long story, but anyway. Most of my poems are pretty dark and sad. That being said, I am not a really dark sad person. (well, everyone has their off days but still). Some of my poems i write because I feel a certain way, and sometimes words just end up on the page that don't sound like my own.
In a recent convo with a friend, who asked me if i used rhyming in my poetry I wrote:
No, I believe that rhyming prevents full access to your words and ideas. Many beginning poets use rhyming as a sort of crutch. But in order to create true poetry that speaks for you, you have to leave the crutch behind and learn to walk on your own.
(this is just my opinion concerning me. I have nothing against poets who use rhyming in their poetry. I just prefer free form poetry.)
Ya'll (I'm not southern, it just fits but anyway), Ya'll are so supportive! And a special thanks for all who comment, it really means alot. seriously...like when someone says they like my poetry, and want me to continue writing…...my heart smiles. And i know that sounds really sappy but its an awesome feeling. Thnx. =)
