I don't like most people. Which is to say, most people don't really entertain or stimulate me; call it egomania or misanthropy: better misanthropy. I prefer to be entertained, but of course it's your decision if you want to do so.

Here's a note to people on this site; if you want to be a good writer, first of all:
1) Read everything there is to read. Especially short stories. Especially James Joyce.
2) Realise that you are a terrible writer.
3) Realise that when other people tell you that you are good, they are only doing so so that you may tell them that they are also good.
4) Become so frustrated at the fact that you are a bad writer that you have no other choice but to become a good writer.
This is a difficult business but an easy hobby. If you're serious about writing, you should be obsessed. Joyce Carol Oates, while at university, used to fill up notebooks with her novels, only to throw them away as soon as she had finished. James Joyce spent 17 years of 4-hours-a-night sleeping while he was composing "Finnegans Wake". Anthony Burgess lamented continually that he had chosen an occupation that required constant concentration.
I love all of you because you write. We are, notwithstanding music and whatever you call God, the most perfect artform humanity has discovered. It's not perfect
but it's damn close.
