“Becoming a writer is not a “career decision” like becoming a doctor or a policeman. You don’t choose it so much as get chosen, and once you accept the fact that you’re not fit for anything else, you have to be prepared to walk a long, hard road for the rest of your days.” - Paul Auster
I'm Anna, a teenage writer currently making my way through high school and those awkward teenage years. Writing has become a defining part of my make up. For ten years I've been slaving away at my technique, trying to find my own voice, and improving myself in every way I can find. I want to be a published author some day, but of course, I still have quite a ways to go before I'm anywhere near where I want to be.
I have a few projects that I'm currently working on. It'll be a while before I start posting them on here but here's a bit about them.
Payton Riley's Guide to the Supernatural- This project is going to be a series of short stories about a young girl named Payton Riley. She travels across the country with her mother, Rachel, her father, Steven, and her dog, Zeus, saving people and hunting the supernatural creatures that walk among us. Inspired by the television show Supernatural, each story will feature a different creature and some information that I've gathered from the show and other online sources.
Les Cirque Des Perdus- A novel idea that's near and dear to my heart about a mysterious circus, it's performers, and the secret they all guard with their pathetically long lives. It's a sort of experiment with style, written in both 2nd and 3rd person. It tells a story of the desperation, pain, and emptiness of these circus performers and how it drove them to make a deal that bound them to Les Cirque Des Perdus.
Welcome to Paradise- This one is more light-hearted than CDP. It's a Sci-fi/Romance/Comdey story that my dad and I thought up in a booth at Cody's. It's about an alien girl, Nif, who was accidentally left behind on earth by her parents when she was just a toddler, no more than three. After finding her on their farm in the middle of a crop circle, Anne and Bobby Whittaker, an elderly couple living on the outskirts of Paradise, take her in and name her Kate. Thirteen years later, Jin, a skilled warrior and tracker from her home planet Mim, arrives to bring her home. The only problem is, he doesn't know what she looks like. Chaos and hilarity issue as Jin makes his way through small town USA searching for Kate and Kate discovers her body's uncanny ability to change it's density.
I have plenty more. My brain apparently has nothing better to do than come up with story ideas.
Also, if you have a chance, stop by my forum. There's not much there yet, though.
