"Sir Stafford Nye had been a disappointment in diplomatic circles. Marked out in early youth by his gift for great things, he had singularly failed to fulfill his early promise." (Passenger to Frankfurt by Agatha Christie)
That's me right now. Or rather, it would have been, if I'd ever been singled out for my brilliance at a young age. Or happened to be a Sir with an awesome name like that. So, basically, the part about failing... that's me. But hey, no need to get bitter.
What you might (or might not) want to know about me...
I have this terrible habit of PMing people a list of errors I found in their stories... If you don't like it, just ignore it!
I speak English, German and some Japanese; I can kind of read French and learned Latin only to go and forget it the second I walked from my exam. I just started out on Korean and Hindi. I'm in my late 20ies yet terribly immature and love Tea and Sweets.
I'm searching for a job and, more importantly, my place in life. Once I hit my mid twenties the ideas I'd had about life and myself started to seriously crumble and It's about time to build something new from the rubbles. Being a writer was one of those ideas that were destined to be burried at the very bottom of the heap. But it's fun and fun things shouldn't be banned from one's life without a reason.
In German there is this expression for the lazy/bad part of ourselves: we call it "innerer Schweinehund" which is like one's "inner swine". Now I have the theory that my inner swine is, in fact, a dragon; and each time one of it's heads is cut, two new ones grow in it's place. That's how lazy I am. And one of the reasons many of my dreams just won't come into fruition.
Writers I admire
Agatha Christie!! J.R.R. Tolkien! Jane Austen! Khalil Gibran! Rabindranath Tagore
About my stories
The Dragon Princess
A story I wrote in 2002. Basically a fairytale. People said it was to short, and I totally agree. However, inspiration hasn't quite struck.
A door to other worlds
Part of an English assignment I did back in 2002. A short story. Not very original but I enjoyed rereading it after these years... Please feel free to check out the first two handwritten pages! They have drawn frames which I took some time to make and they are probably the best part of the story, to be honest.
I was asked to continue this story, but won't be able to do it any time soon...
Elster und Perle
Ich hatte die größten Schwierigkeiten, das Genre für diese Geschichte auszuwählen... Wenn jemand bessere Vorschläge hat, her damit!! Bitte :)
Beneath the Cracks on the surfface
This story was inspired by my student job as a guard in the museum. Walking these halls for hours and hours, you do start to get ideas... (By the way thank you so much everyone who bothered leaving comments!! I really should improve the formatting... would separate chapters be better?)
A story I originally wanted to write for a friend to give it to her on her birthday; However, this has been dragging for many months now! But it's one of the two projects I'm really working on these days...
They are quite short and mostly written just for the fun of it. I guess the one I like best at the moment is "Something worth saying". Maybe because it captures one of the conflicts I come across again and again. I keep stopping, keep hesitating... Keep doubting if what I'm doing is of any real worth. If it's legitimate to be spending my time on something that is purely superficial. Something I realize I'm mostly doing to please my ego. I keep wondering if there isn't actually something else I should be doing right now, some crossing where I failed to turn... well, you get the idea.
