"Some people are ridiculously talented. Me, I'm just mediocre with a smile."

Hullo. I'm Fortescue (formerly Lost But Found), and I mostly write character-focused sci-fantasy. I also love fiction far too much for my own good - certainly, it seems to take up far more of my time than real life. If you read my stuff, expect vignettes, odd ideas aplenty, and far too much focus on what goes on in other people's heads. If you like that sort of thing, welcome - you may be in for an enjoyable ride - and it's usually wise to expect a PM in reply if you review me.

I try to make all of my own avatars and cover images. If you ever want an image I use sourced, just ask - I'll have it around somewhere.

Some of my favourite writers around are Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Arthur Conan Doyle, Andy Hamilton and Joss Whedon.

If you like my writing over here, you might enjoy my blog.

Current projects: Past Lives, my favourite and most-updated project, is still ongoing. You can find "extras" such as a timeline of events and illustrations over at this page.

There's also something completely different - Red, a present for a friend, a departure from my usual subject matter but a very enjoyable love story.

Important note: If you're enjoying something that doesn't seem to have been updated for a while (and if you are, thank you!), it most likely isn't dead. I tend to work on at least a couple of projects at once, and it probably just means that my focus has shifted. Unless I've actually said that it's on hiatus, I'll be coming back to finish it ASAP. (I'm the sort of odd person that actually can write multiple stories at once.)

Knowing if you're reading a story by Fortescue

If:

- it's British, with all the slightly weird slang that goes with that;

- it has much overuse of italics and rambling nonsensical thoughts dotted around;

- books, a bookshop, a library or a pub are mentioned;

- there are copious music references to melodramatic lyrics...

then you're probably reading one of my stories. Oh, you poor thing - you really have no idea what you're in for, do you?
