In a world where superheroes and supervillains are a dime a dozen, Kevin tries to get on with his mundane and normal life when he's caught up in a dangerous plot and is put under the protection of the most famous superhero group of all.

A race of winged people make their home in a hidden valley at the top of a mountain at the centre of the desert, and none have ever seen a reason to leave. Azel, a young woman who has grown bored with life in the valley, begins to wonder about what might lie beyond the endless sand. She decides to find out one way or another, leaving behind everything she has ever known.

The Bound are all that's left of the human race, forced to take refuge underground after the wilderness reclaimed the planet once again. But the wild is not the only thing that threatens their existence.

The human race now spans the galaxy. One ship finds something that no one had ever thought would ever be found, and the captain finds himself drawn into a rescue mission that everyone tells him is hopeless. He agrees with them. But he does it anyway.
