High school students. Hopefully not for much longer. I started seriously writing-or TRYING to seriously write- when I was around 12. That was after I fell in love with reading. I remember feeling completely lost in the school library the first time. So many books to which I had no idea how to react. My first instinct was excitement but once that was over I found it hard to really connect with any of them. Until My mum suggested I find Jane Eyre. so I spent a whole hour looking for this Jane Eyre my mom praised so much. I was completely hooked; wondering all the while how Bronte could express so much that I could relate to with a language that I wasn't yet entirely comfortable with, speaking to me from a time of which I had no experience, about a people with whom I had no shared perspective, and still touch me so deeply. I could feel then that writing is what can connect people, connect their souls, through any barriers that time, space, culture or class puts between them. And it felt magical to feel so close to a being that was alive and yet ... wasn't.

I'm using this account as a part of my school's writers' club connection. We meet every two weeks or so, set ourselves a writing task and the results of our hard work end up here.

That's really as much as anyone needs to know.
