If you like romance and drama (with sci-fi or fantasy overtones sometimes), you're in the right place. Feel free to dive right in, and careful not to drown in feels. Alright, have a lovely day/night o3o Updated Commentary in regards to Story Content: Given the current state of purity culture and pro-censorship in many online fandom reading circles, I find this necessary to say. Having taken further thought on the matter of writing particular character types, romanticizing unhealthy situations, and misrepresenting particular experiences, I must disclaim: I am not a teacher. I am an entertainer. Art is supposed to be the space where people can hear themselves scream when no place is left for that in their day to day life. And while art can contain the spirit of real life, it cannot be held fully responsible for representing it. For the record, the Elements of Fate Series, "By Moonset", and "Wishful Dreaming" romanticize the redemption of abusers, and the last contains victim-blaming. I expect my readers to understand this. And I am not responsible for people who justify the actions of real-life bullies, and in a culture teeming with abuse apologists, only those who have been abused have the right to decide how they feel about their abusers. Namely, they are allowed to be angry, and to never forgive their abusers, if they so see fit. I wrote these stories at a particular time in my life and they helped me cope with the aftermath of my abuse in my own way. Maybe they helped someone else cope too, and I won't regret that. While I believe it is important for all writers to the best of their ability to do research in order to do properly represent experiences that are not their own, it is equally important for readers to critically take what they consume with a grain of salt. Again, I am not a teacher. I am an entertainer. And if you so wish, I hope you can enjoy the show. |
