Author has written 39 stories for Family, Fantasy, Life, Religion, Love, Politics, Friendship, and Work.

As my pen name tells you, my name is Katie D. Johnson.

I'm an aspiring writer, and though I want to write novels, I'm probably better at poetry than I am at stories.

There was a time when I didn't have the confidence I do now, and I often found myself in a really low place. If it wasn't for writing and poetry, I probably wouldn't be alive today. But here I am, happy and mostly healthy! Many people don't see any point in being a poet; they're more interested in stories, because stories are usually easier to analyze and understand. Despite this, my passion lies with poetry, so that's what I'm using my account for. I hope you enjoy reading my stuff. So that's that. Yup.

Don't You Love Me? reviews
My family is extremely Christian, which there's nothing wrong with that... Until they treat me like an outcast because I'm not exactly like them. This is just what I'd like to say to them but can't right now.

Happy Birthday reviews
I actually wrote this 01-02-16, which was my twentieth birthday. It was my first birthday after the death of my mom, so it was really friggin hard. But I got through it, so that's good.

The Lackluster Rock
Just more of my release. Poetry is my outlet. Not only am I not harming myself by bottling dark thoughts like these up, but I hope to reach people who are in similar places.

The Other Side reviews
How I often feel when dealing with my family. Especially now that I've stopped believing in the Christian faith and since I just can't be who I really am around them.

If Only
Another dark poem. It describes some of the destructive activities I'd pick up if things were different. And then it explains why I don't participate in those destructive activities.

I Hear the Whispers
I'm just listing some stereotypes that I hear most often and trying to show that you can't just look at a person and judge them without ever knowing their character. I'm rating it as "T" for some language.

Katelyn is my real first name; this isn't directed at anyone else. It just describes one of my dark spells, I guess.

Ghosts of Your Footsteps
More release over what happened. Another paragraph poem. Usually, I wouldn't post vulnerable stuff like I've been posting, but I'm kind of hoping that my writing and my feelings can help someone else going through the same thing. So I'm just going to be redundant for now and get it all off my chest.

Chasing Paragraphs reviews
Again, another poem centering around how I feel about my mom's passing. I just can't stop. Writing about her and getting my jumbled feelings out is the only reason I haven't done anything stupid. This one's about how I throw myself into my writing, both intentionally and unintentionally, inadvertently trapping myself.

Trapped by You
These past few weeks, I've just been on a poetry rampage because I'm trying to deal with all of the chaos that my mind's beating itself with. So I decided to try a different form of poetry than what I'm used to. I don't know the official name of it, but it's poetry in paragraph format. Anyway, it's more of my feelings and stuff.

It's Cold in Here
A few weeks ago, I was sitting in one of the buildings at the college I go to, trying to avoid my ex, and it was really cold in there. And I started thinking about my mom and how lonely I was. Then BOOM. It's on paper and I'm trying not to cry.

Trying to Drown reviews
I was listening to another group present their poem. I can't remember what it was called, but it was basically about this guy drowning and everyone thought he was just waving at them. That and the fact that it'd been one month since my mom's death that day just really hit me hard. So this poem is about how I feel; again, it's another raw and unedited one.

Dear God, I'm Tired reviews
A more recent work; I wrote it in late September, A week and a half before my mom died. It's just me ranting. I probably should have edited it, but then it'd lose the meaning that the rawness provided, so I left it be.

Closed Doors
I actually wrote this back in July. It's the last poem (that I wrote) that my mom read and she said it was her favorite. So I guess it's a tribute to her more than anything else, because she liked it so much. It's about what humans do to themselves and each other, basically. How pride, greed, and pain affects everyone.

Dear Mom reviews
I'm not looking for sympathy in posting this. I just promised my mom that I'd post all of my poetry because she liked to read them, so I'm continuing the habit even though she passed a little over a month ago. A lot of my poetry is probably going to feature her now.

Strong and True
I had to write this for a poetry presentation. My assignment was "Invictus", by William Ernest Henley and my job was to write a poem that could be compared to his. It's not my best work (I can't write well under instruction), but I haven't published anything in a while, so I figured I'd put in some of my recent stuff. Enjoy, I guess?

One Day, We Won't reviews
No one will ever love us more than our mothers. Appreciate that love, because you won't find it anywhere else and one day, your mom won't be there. Out of all my poetry, this was one of the hardest to write.

Broken Rant
I wasn't sure how to rate this... I'm just going to put T, because while it has a good bit of language, it's not wholly adult-themed. I'm too OCD to not rhyme or at least off-rhyme in poetry, so I let the rhythm get sloppy because it's a rant.

Give People Their Wings reviews
This is a series that supports equality for all nationalities, religions, sexualities, etc. I'm open to requests too; just private message me, and I will get right on answering your request. If I don't know about the subject, I will ask that you give me plenty of details about it and give me time to research it so I can build an accurate argument supporting the equality for it.

This is a metaphor of a person's battle with depression. I'm going to rate it as "T", because it's kind of dark.

Weaker than I
Since I've been looking through my old stuff, I figured I'd put this one up here as well. I used to have a lot of trouble with bullies, and my first band director gave me the worst time out of everyone who picked on me. I wrote this on the anniversary of the day that I finally saw him for what he was. Even though this points to all of my bullies, it speaks to him the most.

I've always had a problem with trying to please everybody and my other poems portray that. This is another one of those that show what's going on in my mind.

Why I Write reviews
Too often, people take writers for granted. They enjoy reading, but they look down on the people around them who want to be writers. After spending too long seeing the look of disdain and contempt on certain people in my life's faces, I wrote this piece. They'll probably never read it, but it sure as hell made me feel better.

Whiskey Scented Tears reviews
Lately, I've looked at various news posts and seen people bashing our soldiers. A vast majority of the people bashing them can't understand, much less do, what those soldiers, those people, those MEN and Women have to do. The speaker is in love with a soldier suffering from PTSD. This is my way to pay my respects to our brave warriors.

Still Seeing You
Two girls were in college and dorming together. One is addicted to drugs and wastes away because of it. This was originally for a story idea, but I abandoned the story. However, I thought that this could apply to real life, so I'm posting it.

Long Gone
Love is the best and the worst thing in the world and sometimes you fall in love with the wrong person. When those times come, you may have to be a little mean to get your point across; to the other person as well as yourself. You may have to let go of someone you want in order to be with someone you need.

Your Mask reviews
We all have masks, though some go further than others. You can decide how to take this poem's message for yourself. I'm putting it as rated T just to be safe. There are mentions of self-harm, even if it's only brief.
