Author has written 1 story for Fantasy. Good day to you! What a pleasant surprise Sorry for the rather lacking or lackluster amount of content on this profile; it's been a long while since I've been on a site like this, and I'm kind of just relearning to how to navigate and post, which may take me some time! My name's George (or Snaggle, if you'd rather), I'm a 17 year old girl who considers herself more of a comic artist than a writer (so again, I apologise for the sometimes heavy handed narrative you'll find in my work) and is currently wading through her AS levels. I'm heavily influenced and fascinated by fairytale structures and characters, as well as their origins and meanings, and I love a good Arthurian legend any day of the week. Both of these interests have helped to shape my work and the way I handle writing, as well as creating the outline for the one story you'll most likely see me posting on here; Percival (which we shall get to when we get to it). One thing I should make perfectly clear before you browse; I am here to try and entertain, of course, but also to learn and improve on my work as much as I can. Think my dialogue is stilted? Tell me, and show me how to improve upon it! Worried that a character could be angling towards the mary-sue side? Call me out on it! Alternatively; think there's something I've handled particularly well in a chapter? Let me know about it!In short, I'm looking for crit, as much as you can bare to write, and as harsh and nitpicky as you like (although it's nice to know the difference between a harsh crit and a straight up insult; always tell me how you think I should improve!) Thank you my loves, and happy reading! About Percival: Percival is a fantasy novella, based on the concept of taking already well known and established fairytale and fantasy tropes (The Handsome Prince, the Wicked Witch, the Ugly Stepsister, ect) and mixing and twisting them to create fresh concepts and a whole new story; What if the fairytale never quite ended at "Happy ever After?" what if something went terribly wrong? Would the Handsome Prince really make a Kind and Noble King? Or should some things really end when the book snaps shut? We follow Percival Quincey, the cowardly and self-possessed manservant of King (once Prince) Mathias as he knocked from his comfortable and blinkered position in the royal court, placed under a terrible curse by a vengeful witch, and forced to fend for himself on the streets of a fairytale Kingdom which would very much like to see him dead. Just how far does the King's corruption spread, what is the reason for his destructive fear of magic, and how much is Percival himself to blame for the Kingdom's misery? Once upon a time... |
