I went to school for writing. Two bachelor's degrees under my belt, and I still don't know what I'm doing. I focused heavily on poetry, but I've found it only interests me fleetingly, and most of what I write has the unfortunate ring of pretension. For a while I gave up. I wrote nothing for years, and recently I've picked up the pen again (metaphorically of course, because who writes with pens anymore?) and have written quite a lot of fanfiction over on . I wonder though, why it is so hard for me to write totally original prose. I'm starting to think it's the characters. Creating three dimensional characters who are truly original seems impossible. I think maybe the only things I'm going to be posting here are terrible poetry and memoir-ish type prose posts. I do appreciate anyone that chooses to read any of it, and would hope anyone feels free to leave comments or suggestions. I'll try and return the favor.
