Author has written 1 story for Thriller.
My name is M.C. Ashley, an aspiring author and all-around bibliophile. I have been writing seriously for over six years, starting in my junior year of high school, where I was inspired by Stephen King's The Stand. Having been blown away by its vast array of characters and massive world, I decided to work on my own material.
Before this I was notoriously known as the writer of one of the greatest Mary Sues to ever grace the Internet: Nathaniel Kenobi Solo Clan Fett. In a misbegotten amalgamation of blatant author avatar and self-indulgence I managed to create a flawless character who could do no wrong and everyone loved. Thanks to the help of cooler and smarter heads, I managed to learn that this did not make him an interesting character. Over time I worked on other ideas, always reflecting on this to motivate myself to do better, hence why my username has continued to be based off of his initials, to remind me that no matter how good I get (or worse), I will still never be able to stoop to that level again.
I prefer writing stories with a religious presence in them, but they are never the sole point. I am a follower of Christ, one who's had a tough time learning that I need to submit to His authority and not my own. I have been known in the past to drop spiritual teachings with the subtlety of an anvil falling on the reader's face. I do not want to do this, as I want to glorify God, not demean Him with sub par writing. I will not always succeed in this matter, and should you ever feel that anything in my works becomes too preachy, then please feel free to let me know. No writer is perfect, and I never will be, but we can all get better by listening to sound constructive criticism.
Besides that, I enjoy writing horror, urban fantasy, and science fiction, some of my first paperback loves being Stephen King, Harry Potter, and Star Wars. On here I will primarily be focusing on Pyrrhic, my homage to Battle Royale. I have also had some success with fan-fiction, perhaps my greatest work being the fix fic Breaking the Deal, which can be found on FanFiction.net.
