I go by El online, and I'm a college student. I'm finally trying to believe in myself with this whole writing thing, which I'm pretty sure means you just have to force yourself to get a lot of exposure... so here goes. I would love, love, love feedback on anything and everything (and grammar's not my strong suit so feel free to call me out on it).

I generally write poetry but creative writing courses have begun to inspire me to push myself back into fiction writing (since I so love to read it).

The best things in life are dogs.

Also, side note: a lot of my poems have specific, intentional formatting which Fictionpress seems unable to handle, at times. Check out my profile on Archive of Our Own (under the same username as here) if you'd like to see the works formatted properly.

Are You Feeling Alright?
Everyone grapples with internal, mental turmoil at some point. Every civilization has attempted to fix mental states with physical actions. Why is that? Do they work?

She is a (Mostly) Open Book reviews
Advice to those who want to get to know you (or me, as the case may be). I think this is a pretty easily generalizable topic. How does one get closer to another person? Learn the story of their life? This is something approaching a prose poem describing what that process looks like to me (reading an old, worn, damaged book).

Look Me in the Eyes
You know when you're tired of meaningless sex, but you find yourself turned on or aching for that physical affection from someone who really loves and cares about you as a significant other? This is my attempt at capturing that.

The Art of Dissociation
My psychologist pointed out that stress actually made me dissociate, mildly, and so from there I tried to capture how that dissociation felt for me. The poem evolved to be also about coping techniques I utilized following my dissociation, depending on how quickly I felt I needed to "come back down to earth" (if you will). *TW: self harm and the sensation of losing one's self.

A Lesson
Sometimes crying is a very tension relieving experience, sometimes a trigger. I think we all learn something different from it. Let me know if you agree.

24 Hours After the Assault
This poem was inspired by my feelings of helplessness after finding out my friend had been sexually assaulted. I wrote this while struggling to cope with my inability to help her.

Dandelion Trust
A poem dealing with two things: the difference between love and trust in all relationships (not just romantic) as well as the process of analyzing poetry. This is a mix of prose and verse poetry.

Marie is not quite sure what is missing, but she's determined to find it. (In the microfiction challenge, an author can create a whole, complete fiction (that can, at times, border on prose poetry) in 300 words or less. This is my third attempt at a microfiction and, as is visible from the word count, I did not quite manage it. If you have any tips for cutting words, let me know.)
