Hey there, Akebono speaking.

Technically, the penname I'm using here is done in the Asian tradition, with the last name coming first and all that, but I know people are going to screw that up already, so you might as well just call me Akebono - a lot of people here already do that anyways.

Anyways, what can I say? Um, I like to write, obviously, but prior to college I mostly only wrote for messageboard roleplaying games. My experience with actually writing stories is really quite limited... I made a try for fanfiction a while back, but never managed to get past the first few pages before I gave up on each project. Even now, I have a list of fanfiction and erotic fanfiction sitting in my harddrive that I would love to write, but have never had the courage or determination to finish.

Which brings me to here, in this post-highschool era of mine, where I was introduced to that American comic book tradition of the Superhero.

I blame this entirely on the first friend I ever made on campus... let's call him Kashiwadou. He was sort of this gentle giant kind of guy who was also a geek and a little bit of a philosopher on the side. We met in Japanese class (which is how I got my pen name, by the way, and where I'm pulling his pseudonym), and things just sort of went downhill from there. Kashiwadou was a lot older than me, so our friendship usually consisted of him telling me everything that he knew and me learning and listening with rapt attention. Most of the time, this consisted of comics - Kashiwadou was a huge fan of both DC and Marvel comics. He loved the superhero stories and the comicbook industry, and when I first met him, was even dreaming of becoming a scriptwriter for comic book artists. He was a marvelous storyteller in his own right, and it was with him that I first started to develop my own stories... almost all of which were about superheroes.

It's been years since then, and my newfound interest in the world of superheroes has blossomed into something of my own... an entire world of superheroes, each with their own story to be told, each an entire adventure waiting to be unfolded before you.

Welcome, all, to the universe of "Planet 255: Earth", where being a hero isn't necessarily about being super.
